Joliette Art Museum

If you like architecture, you will enjoy visiting the building. It is restored to a very modern building with an amazing view over the river.
The art collection is limited but considering the size of the city, it’s a delightful place to visit.
Employees are very helpful and kind to give you interesting information regarding artists. I enjoyed it :)

This is a unique place, a three floors building, not that big but it big enough to cover paintings, sculptures, works of art, sound art, performance art, etc.

I can feel that the creators have done a lot of efforts by details, which made this museum different.

Ticket $15, parking $1 / hour for priceless creation and art, why not.

Nice little cultural pause right in town with creative special exhibits. A bit pricey if you don’t have a reciprocal membership though

Very beautiful museum, well curated exhibitions and friendly staff. I was impressed by the modern architecture of the building, it is truly a gem and a must see if you like arts and are in the city. During summer, there is a patio on the rooftop where you can and enjoy a drink after your visit.

We spent two enjoyable hours in this small but interesting museum. That's probably about the amount of time you'll need to see everything. I appreciated that they had hung older work alongside more contemporary pieces. They seemed to play off one another and this made the viewing more interesting. There's paintings and sculptures from the 15th century to the 20th, most part of the collection of the clerics of St. Viateur. The museum is a lovely place to spend a few hours and the Assinaboin River right across the street where you can stroll alongside it or have a picnic.

The 11th Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières (BIECTR) will take place from June 16 to September 8, 2019. The Musée d’art de Joliette is collaborating with this major printmaking exhibit by presenting, in Espace 3e, a selection of new prints by artists Bonnie Baxter (Canada), Jenny Robinson (United States), as well as Monika Brzegowska and Tomasz Winiarski (Poland). Exploring everything from silk-screen printing and mezzotint to woodcuts both handmade and laser-etched, the works in this exhibit reflect the great diversity of contemporary printmaking techniques showcased by the BIECTR.
