Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can your venue accommodate?

The MAJ offers several spaces for rent, ranging from a conference room that seats 14 people to the main entrance hall, which can accommodate more than 200 guests for a cocktail reception. For a seated meal, we can host approximately 100 guests. A combination of spaces may allow you to increase the number of attendees.


Does MAJ have a liquor license?

The MAJ does not hold a permanent liquor license. If you wish to serve or sell alcohol, you must obtain a temporary permit from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.


Does MAJ offer catering services?

MAJ does not offer catering services and does not have exclusive agreements with any caterers. You are therefore free to work with the catering provider of your choice for meals or refreshments.


Is it possible to visit the Museum when renting a space at MAJ?

If your event takes place during the Museum’s opening hours, you and your guests will be able to visit the current exhibitions free of charge. If your event takes place outside opening hours, it is possible to add a guided tour of our exhibitions or admission for your guests to your rental, for an additional fee.


What equipment is available?

The MAJ has basic equipment available for hosting events. However, you may need to rent certain items such as tables, chairs, lighting systems, etc.


What are the Museum’s rental policies?

Renters must respect the Museum’s regular activities at all times, including exhibitions and the presence of visitors.

For the safety of the artworks, candles, lanterns, cooking, and any open flames are strictly prohibited inside the Museum. However, catering services may operate from a food truck or service vehicle located in the loading area.

For conservation purposes, the MAJ reserves the right to refuse entry of certain organic materials (flowers, plants, animals, etc.). The Museum must remain a pest-free environment.

Renters must also respect copyright and reproduction rights related to the artworks when they are present in the space.
